Project Insight

The intent of this design is to take advantage of the home’s unfinished basement while maintaining the transitional style between all levels. The client wants the basement to look older, like it was updated years ago, not recently. The scope incorporates navy blue color, a family room, wet bar, guest bedroom, exercise room, bathroom, and additional storage for the basement as well as being inviting and warm. The issues are making it “non-basement feel” while maintaining the clients’ needs and contractor’s timeframe and providing the details so it will not be like every basement in their neighborhood. This is achieved by having the wet bar right when you turn the corner of the basement steps and incorporating arches and niches like those on the main and upper level. The family room is next to the steps by the window. Thanks to the outside deck, the TV does not get the glare of the sunlight. The bathroom, exercise room, and storage area are tucked away to the left of the stairs. So, when someone is entertaining, they does not have to hear noises from the bathroom facilities. The clients are overjoyed with the end results.
