Save Time, Money, & Soothe Your Stress by Hiring a Certified Interior Designer

Penny-Pinching idea for Farmhouse Style Bathroom

Have you ever wondered why you need a Certified Interior Designer? Here are the top 5 reasons:

  1. Save Time - Designers can save you time and relieve you from the stress involved in a renovation project, by coordinating contractors and purchasing items directly!

  2. Formally trained & educated - We listen and understand our clients and are passionate about design.

  3. Certified/Licensed - I have taken and passed the NCIDQ exam to become a Certified Interior Designer in the State of MN.

  4. Maintain Certification - We complete CEU’s (Continuing Education Unit) in education, codes, technical, accessibility, & ethics. These CEU’s are a 2-year cycle, after which, I need to obtain new CEU’s again.

  5. Networking - We participate in Conference & Invitation Only Events.

Presently, I am focusing on Networking. I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Orlando Florida for Kitchen & Bath Industry Show/International Building Expo from February 8 – February 10, 2022.  I wrote this article in my hotel room while attending this Conference & Expo.  They called it Design and Construction Week.

Aerial view of the vendors… This is 1/8 of the overall conference size.

Upon walking in I was met by over thousands of vendors. The range includes appliances, millwork (cabinetry, door, trim/casing, closet systems), flooring, tile, plumbing items, outdoor spaces, staircases, garage doors, exterior materials, lighting, countertops, and many more. I had the opportunity to talk with experts in their industry about what’s newly trending. For instance: floating staircases with wood & metal combination are what’s hot right now.

Yes, it’s still trending with a twist by adding lighting in the handrails and underneath the treads. This will help with those late-night munchies. Now you will be able to see going down the stairs without using a flashlight or turning on a big light. Let’s face it: This would prevent me from tripping on my stairs, so I do not wake my children while sneaking some ice cream.

My take-aways from the Design & Construction week:

  • Metallic finishes for garage doors and exterior finishes

  • Custom Millwork from across the country; I would not be able to see them locally

  • New appliances not even in the US market yet. I was able to provide them with professional feedback

  • Garage doors, windows, and doors from South America that are not marketed in the US yet.

  • High gloss for front doors

I am filled with astonishment in how this industry gives back to their fellow designers, builders, remodelers, contractors, etc. It was an amazing 3 days of learning & seeing new products and innovations at the Expo. I am wondering which one of my clients will have this beauty in their kitchen.
